Game Design in Scratch is a summer camp offered by Coder Kids. This camp is a perfect fit for beginner and advanced coders. Students learn to make video games and animations using Scratch. It is project based, and instructors can modify each project to the individual student and their skill level. At the end of camp, students will have a portfolio of their work to share with friends and family.

Another great thing about Game Desing in Scratch is that there are currently 3 different programs for the camp, with a 4th to be announced this spring! Kids can take Game Design in Scratch with a Wild West program, Outer Space propgram or a Castles & Dragons program. Game Design in Scratch summer camps are creative, challenging and affordable. Many campers end up taking all 3 options!

Scratch Music Maker

Scratch Music Maker is a super fun and musical way for kids to learn to code using Scratch. This camp is a great fit for beginners and advanced coders as well. In Scratch Music Maker, kids create their own songs and animated music videos! Kids will get to make beats as well as friends!

Makey Makey

Makey Makey camps are another example of just how much you can really do with Scratch! Makey Makey is an invention kit for the 21st century. You can use it to turn everyday objects into keys for your computer. Using everything from bananas to copper tape and cardboard, in this camp, kids will connect Makey Makey to make Scratch projects come to life in the real world. Talk about getting creative!

Makey Makey is a wonderful option for kids who are more hands-on and like to tinker. Currently Makey Makey camps are offered in-person in Houston, TX and online for kids everywhere!

Scratch Advanced

Scratch Advanced is a fantastic camp for kids who are already comfortable with Scratch and ready to take their skills to the next level. In this camp, students create more advanced games like platformers, RPGs and other physics-based games. The camp focsuing on building high quality projects that kids will be excited to show off.

Scratch Advanced summer camps are offered in-person in Houston, TX. They are also available online so you can enjoy this camp from anywhere!

TechVenture Code and Build

This camp combines Scratch and the Lego WeDo Kit. This is another great option for kids that like their coding to feel more “hands-on.” The kit has motors, sensors and lego blocks, and kids will learn to create Scratch programs that control what they build with the WeDo kit, as well as creations that control their Scratch programs!

Currently, this camp is only offered online. Hopefully they’ll move back to in-person camps in the state of Washington soon!
